25 Years Building Systems

Hi there!

Get my 5-Stars book on Amazon

I’ve been programming, guiding teams and leading multi-million IT projects since year 2000 for very large companies, in Brazil and US. Today, I work as an Engineering Manager/Architect at Rocket Lawyer, one of the biggest Legal Tech brands in US.

I am the author of Spring System Design in Practice, launched in May 2025 by Packt Publishing on Amazon. The book teaches developers how to carry projects from a product conception to the architecture and final implementation/optimization by using the Spring Framework. I am really proud that the book has received 5 stars by the reviewers.

I currently work as a Software Engineering Manager for Rocket Lawyer. Having a great time helping one of the biggest legal tech brands in the world, located in San Francisco – USA.

Here’s a message from one of our directors about my first year’s performance:

I praise God for giving me the gifts to bring this kind of impact in the companies I work with.

Rocket Lawyer is on a critical mission to make the law affordable for people around the world. I have been chosen to co-lead several of their top-priority projects from my very first year, which makes me feel very blessed.

Here’s what I have been doing lately…

Today, I am the Software Engineering Manager in charge of the core set of full-stack services in Filings and Pro Serv – two multi-million monthly revenue products.

I led many of the cross team efforts in that product, and fully implemented myself the core integration with our key fulfillment partner, using Spring Boot + Kotlin.

You may be wondering what my colleagues think about my work. So, I gathered another small sample of the messages I received in a public Slack channel while celebrating my first year in the company.

One of these messages is from a team member, another from a fellow manager, and the remaining three are from directors at Rocket Lawyer.

I’m humbled as I acknowledge where God has taken me today.

I’m sort of a man-in-the-middle

I mostly work to facilitate communication and delegation across teams and levels during projects.

Additionally, I guide and review the project’s execution, keeping a broader view at all times. I involve whoever is needed to solve specific parts of the current projects.

I also often go hands-on in critical aspects of our end-to-end engineering process: architecture work, proof-of-concepts, coding, refactoring, quality assurance, deliveries, hiring, incident troubleshooting, and whatever else comes my way.

As I cannot handle all of this by myself, I am normally orchestrating an incredible team that actually makes most of the work happen on time.

Furthermore, I can always rely on great mentors, advisors, and partners in all areas who help me understand our scenario and the company’s strategic needs.

My true goal is making everybody’s lives easier, so that we have happier customers – and therefore, a world with more justice and fairness.

If I would summarize my skills, it’d be the following:

  • I’m capable of leading technology solutions as a Lead Senior Software Engineer
  • I can do hands-on work in any engineering area
  • I’m a high level communicator and coach, as a Meta-Coach and NS-Trainer certified professional
  • I can understand business, processes and products, from my 15y+ background as an Entrepreneur
  • I’m able to communicate and translate fluently in English / Portuguese
  • I write songs. I got more than 70 songs written. And I am starting to record them 🙂

As somebody who achieved a fair amount of experience and success in this industry, I also love to post some thoughts on linkedin – hopefully helping developers and aspiring devs to get the best out of their careers.
